Learning outcomes:
The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with advanced research tools used in the academia and industry in the biopolymer-based biomaterials world. The course will be delivered using Project oriented method. Each student will receive one or two articles at the beginning of the semester (depending on the complexity of the work) that discuss two topics, which they need to choose from: 1. Protein engineering and biopolymer production. 2. Biomaterial production and characterization. 3. Biomaterial production and its use in tissue engineering. Weekly instructional sessions will be held with the course lecturer and project meetings during which students will perform assignments related to the theoretical material. Each student will be required to present the two selected topics in the form of a mid-term and final presentation.
